Golf Clubs - Just Spoiling A Good Walk?

They say that golf is an activity that merely spoils a good walk and I guess the carrying of a bag of golf clubs doesn’t help much.

Truth is that nowadays, the sight of a small boy lugging around his golf clubs in a worn and tattered bag, is long gone. Most players ruin their ‘good walk’ either by pulling a dinky little cart around (at least getting some exercise), or easily transporting their golf clubs in an electric (or in some rather unusual cases) a petrol driven buggy.

So, you have to decide whether playing golf is about a nice day out in the fresh air, or downright serious affair where bets get settled and friendships dissolved. It can’t be both, whatever your partners say.

And when you finally reach sight of that oasis at the end of the game, the 19th hole as it is sometimes called, however it was that you managed to get your precious golf clubs round becomes irrelevant. However close that 30 yarder was on the 16th will, for the moment at least, be forgotten (by you, even if all your buddies wind you up about it continually!).

You will all be focusing on the end of the game, where the bragging rights get settled and who buys the drinks, and who, when all is said and done, had the rub of the green.

Surely then, if things haven’t gone your way, you will see the game as one that spoilt a good walk. And, as you park your trusty golf clubs once more in the trunk of your car, you’ll go home swearing that it really is just a ’silly game’. A game that’s not worth getting excited about - until, of course the next time, when you’ll be up for it again, just like every time you set out to play.
